Objectives:

Upon completion of this course the learner will to describe:

  1. The different categories of combustible gas instruments (Whetstone bridge circuits and electro-chemical sensors).
  2. The basic characteristics and properties of natural gas.
  3. The fire triangle and flammable range of natural gas – lower explosive limit (LEL) and upper explosive limit (UEL).
  4. OSHA safe working levels for natural gas – 20% of the lower explosive limit.
  5. The use, operation, and inspection of combustible gas indicators.
  6. The use, operation, and inspection of flame ionization units.
  7. The hazards of carbon monoxide and techniques used to detect its presence.
  8. The principles of Wheatstone bridge circuits.
